About John Ivanac
John Ivanac was born in Boulder Western Australia and in the many pleasant times of his long departed youth remembers scouring the landscape with his dogs Spot and Tangy for different coloured rocks, listening with wonderment to the tales of ex-prospector Bert Couch about the many prospects, minerals and scenery of Cape York Peninsula and also helping his father on a small gold mine.
Always interested in painting he received some early tips form the water colourist Fred Stern while happily prospecting in and around Tennant Creek.
